Reopening of the Medicine Anthropology Theory Pipeline
Dear all,
It is our great pleasure to announce the re-opening of Medicine Anthropology Theory! The journal will be co-edited by Dr Lioba Hirsch and Dr Jess Cooper, with the guidance of an incredible Editorial Board, about whom you can read more here. With the support of Edinburgh Diamond at the University of Edinburgh Library and the Open Journals Collective, MAT will continue to be entirely fee-free and open access. We are excited to be at the helm of an open access wave in academic publication; we are firmly of the belief that research about people should be accessible to people. It takes labour to resist paywalls and we are excited to continue to stand with others in supporting that position.
MAT will continue its tradition of publishing cutting-edge, rigorous, interdisciplinary, and creative research about health and wellbeing around the world today. We welcome submissions from folks beyond anthropology who share in our inquisitive concern about people, power, and their alchemy in the field of health and wellbeing. We understand anthropology to be a fundamentally humanistic and therefore capacious – so don’t let the “A” in our title mislead: fellow travellers are warmly invited to read, to comment, to submit. Welcome.
With that good news, our pipeline is now open for submissions! Please consider submitting your Research Article, Field Note, or Review Essay to our editorial team. You can read more about the type of work MAT publishes and how to submit something yourself here.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Jess & Lioba
